Tonbridge Juddians remain six points clear in National League 2 East after a 24-17 win in their rearranged derby at Sevenoaks.
The visitors were immediately on the front foot and made the most of space out wide to cross through Curtis Barnes after eight minutes. Sam Evans missed the conversion, leaving Oaks to take a 7-5 lead when they eased through to score with extras added on 17 minutes.
Judds stepped up a gear from the restart, surged downfield and, after a few heavyweight pushes, Connor Lloyd got the touchdown to put the league leaders 12-7 to the good.
Half-time came with no further scores but Oaks struck first after the break with a penalty on 52 minutes swiftly followed by a converted try for a five-point lead.
The game again swung back Tonbridge’s way with Lloyd once more at the heart of the action, finishing off a surging move under the sticks with Evans topping things up to restore the advantage by two points.
Oaks turned to their kicking game for territory and pressure but on 66 minutes Duncan Tout got in on the act for the visitors when good play down the right saw the left open up and he strolled to the line for the game’s final points.
