Tonbridge Angels release midfielder Chris Kinnear due to 'internal issues'

Tonbridge manager Steve McKimm says he's released midfielder Chris Kinnear over 'internal issues'.

Kinnear made 17 starts after signing from Dover last summer, scoring twice, but has now left the club.

McKimm was playing his cards close to his chest but said: "It came to a head on Saturday.

"I don't want to put too much out there.

"I wouldn't say it was a disagreement but there were a couple of internal issues that I wasn't happy with."

Angels won 3-0 at Brightlingsea Regent in the Bostik Premier on Saturday thanks to goals from Joe Turner, Dan Bennett and Sam Bantick.

But their New Year's Day home game against title favourites Billericay was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

Early-morning volunteers spent hours working on the pitch but another downpour saw the match postponed.

McKimm said: "We've lost out on good revenue there but I feel most for the volunteers who put in such a tremendous effort on the pitch."

Tonbridge, 10th in the table, are due to host Lowestoft on Saturday.
