Arthur Lee has signed for Tonbridge Angels after a season at Hornchurch

Tonbridge Angels’ play-off winner Arthur Lee is back at the club.

Lee scored in the super play-off win over Met Police at the end of the 2018/29 season to help clinch a place in National League South.

The central defender moved on that summer, signing for Hornchurch, but he’s now back at the Longmead Stadium ahead of a new season.

Lee was with the squad on Saturday as they enjoyed a 4-1 win over Margate in a pre-season friendly and will be looking to feature in their next outing.

Manager Steve McKimm announced the signing on Twitter and in an interview on the club’s website, he said: “I didn’t want him to leave the club in the first place but we couldn’t keep hold of him.

“I would have liked to have signed him before pre-season started but it didn’t work. It has happened now and he’s glad to be back.

“It adds more competition to our squad and now every position is covered with three players."

Ben Greenhalgh opened the scoring in Saturday’s game and Tom Parkinson scored the second shortly after the turnaround.

Isthmian Premier side Margate got one back from John Ufuah’s free-kick but substitute Kristian Campbell scored twice more for the visitors, the first with a header and his second an overhead kick.

Margate included young Gills professional Toby Bancroft in their starting XI.
