Tunbridge Wells town centre businesses receive free bows from RTW Together Business Improvement District

Shops in Tunbridge Wells town centre have been given a festive touch, with free golden bows handed out by the town's Business Improvement District.

The front doors of many businesses in the town are now all wrapped up, thanks to the RTW Together Business Improvement District (BID).

A selection of participating companies were also visited by special guests Tink and the Tinsel People, as part of RTW Together’s Royal Tunbridge Spells campaign, to bring the magic back this Christmas.

BID director Sarah-Jane Adams said the bows were well received, adding: “Installing over 70 bows this year has been a great success, as on mass they make a noticeable impact on our town centre streets.

"We’re thrilled with the response to the free décor, and are pleased that the project can also do additional good through the element of collecting charitable donations.”

Whilst the bows have been offered for free, a suggested donation of £5 could be made by businesses, with funds going towards the Once Upon a Wish Goodwill Ball (OUAW).

OUAW, based in the town, in Central Market, and themselves a BID member, are raising money for a princess party for grieving and poorly children.

Speaking about the partnership with RTW Together, OUAW founder Jess Nelson says “We’re so delighted that after a considerable donation from Royal Tunbridge Wells Together, the Once Upon a Wish Events Goodwill Christmas Ball can go ahead.

"Similar to RTW Together, our goal was to unite local businesses, and in doing so deliver an extra sprinkle to magic to some rather special children this year.

"The inaugural ball will have a session for children with neuro-diverse conditions, and one session for children living with or affected by a life-limiting illness or significant bereavement.

"My most heartfelt thanks goes out to RTW Together for their support and I cannot wait to share some seasonal smiles with children who need it most.”
