Former KM photographer goes viral for looking like The Office and After Life star Ricky Gervais

A former Kent Messenger photographer who has gone viral over his supposed resemblance to Ricky Gervais says he knows what it is like to be on the other side of the camera, having been snapped in the streets after being confused with The Office star.

But, unlike many, the Tunbridge Wells dad does not see any similarities whatsoever.

Matthew Walker said his online fame peaked when his sister posted a picture of him asking people if he looked like the comedian, resulting in a like from Ricky himself.

It has been shared thousands of times and the image has been featured in the national press and he likes of LADbible.

The 49-year-old photographer has been constantly asked for selfies since people began mistaking him for the After Life and The Office star.

He said: "This has been going on for years now, but I don't see the similarity at all.

"Maybe my mannerisms are similar, but I don't know.

"People who are close to me don't think I'm similar to him. It's more strangers who can see the similarity."

Despite being heckled as 'Ricky' and the countless snaps, Matthew said nobody has ever truly mistaken him for The Office star. At least not yet.

"Nobody has ever properly mistaken me for him, but they do approach me saying I look like him."

"Last summer I went to Greece and this waiter kept trying to figure out who did I look like.

"He kept saying 'you look like this British comedian', and once he figured it out he kept calling me Ricky for the rest of the three weeks of my trip."
