Officers in an unmarked car stopped the vehicle in Grosvenor Road, close to the junction of Goods Station Road at around 8am on April 28.

The driver was spoken to and a traffic offence report was issued for driving without due care and attention and for failing to comply with a red light traffic signal.

A Stagecoach spokesman said: “The safety of our customers, colleagues and other road users is our most important priority, which is why we are taking this incident extremely seriously.

"We expect our drivers to uphold the highest standards of responsible driving behaviour and road safety which we instil through a rigorous programme of professional training.

"A full investigation is in process, and we will be speaking with the driver to understand what happened."
