General Election 2019: Labour announce Antonio Weiss as candidate for Tunbridge Wells

Labour have announced their candidate for Tunbridge Wells ahead of the General Election.

Antonio Weiss will be pledging for residents votes in the upcoming election, taking place on December 12.

He is a public service consultant and an elected councillor and Cabinet Member in the London Borough of Harrow.

The 32-year-old is married and has an eight-month-old son named Frank.

He lives in Harrow but is staying with his in-laws in Tunbridge Wells.

He is also and international author and has a PhD in the history of state reform from Birkbeck University of London.

He said: "It's clear that people are tired of a decade of austerity, of Conservative and Lib Dem damage to our health service, schools and housing, of broken promises, and of a three-year failure by Tory governments on dealing with Brexit.

"People are telling me that they want real change - change that only Labour can deliver. This is a special election.

"Building on our gains in past general elections, this is the first time Tunbridge Wells could elect a Labour MP.

"Be part of something amazing this Christmas, and vote Labour."

This will be his first time running for MP.
