Suspect charged after mountain bikes stolen from Bedgebury Pinetum near Tunbridge Wells

A man suspected of stealing 23 bikes from Bedgebury Pinetum near Tunbridge Wells has been charged with burglary.

The mountain bikes were reported stolen after a container was broken into on April 16.

The following day officers in Maidstone seized a van believed to have been used in the crime.

Police found the vehicle had been reported stolen, along with a number of power tools in a previous burglary in London in March.

Jason Holloway, of James Whatman Way, Maidstone, was arrested the following week. He was later charged with two counts of burglary and with the theft of a motor vehicle.

The 30-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where he pleaded not guilty. He was remanded in custody and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on May 26.

Officers are appealing for more information as the bikes have not been located.
