A MAN denied raping a teenage girl in a car park in Tunbridge Wells more than 15 years ago when he appeared before a judge at Maidstone Crown Court.

David Kirby, of The Colonnade, Eastbourne, East Sussex, also pleaded not guilty to falsely imprisoning the alleged victim, then aged 18, and an 18-year-old youth.

The offences relate to an incident in Fir Tree Lane car park, Tunbridge Wells, on February 8, 1989.

Kirby, a 48-year-old alarms engineer, entered the pleas via a TV link between the Crown Court and Elmley Prison, Sheppey.

Judge Keith Simpson set the trial date for April 11 next year. The case will return to court briefly on December 20. Kirby was remanded in custody.
