Train services from Tunbridge Wells to Robertsbridge set to resume after landslide

Train services from Tunbridge Wells and Robertsbridge are set to resume on Monday after a landslide left trees and mud over the tracks.

On Wednesday, Southeastern said the line would remain closed for a number of days and that the closure was to protect the safety of passengers.

It has since been advising people to find alternative routes and to postpone journeys where possible.

But, today, the train operator said it expected the line to reopen in time for normal service on Monday morning.

A spokesman said: "Following the landslide at Wadhurst on Wednesday, repair work is progressing well, and we expect the railway between Tunbridge Wells and Robertsbridge to reopen in time for normal service on Monday morning.

"Replacement buses remain in operation for affected stations this weekend. Please check before you travel before setting out."

He added: "We’re sorry for inconvenience to our customers over the past few days and, working together with Network Rail, we’ve put in place contingency plans to keep people moving and restore the railway to normal operation.

"We’d like to remind all of our customers affected by the disruption that they can claim for compensation, at double the normal value, by visiting www.southeasternrailway.co.uk/delayrepay."
