Friends threatened with wheel wrench in robbery at Great Lodge Retail Park, Tunbridge Wells

A group of friends were threatened with a wheel wrench and punched in the face before being robbed of cash in car park.

Three young adults had met up in Great Lodge Retail Park off Longfield Road, Tunbridge Wells on Thursday evening.

At around 9.40pm a Citroen car approached the group close to the former Toys R Us store and a passenger got out.

The passenger is said to have asked to swap some change he had for a bank note but after he was given the note, the car left and no money was given in return.

A short time later the car returned and both the driver and the passenger got out and approached the same group.

Demands to hand over phones, money and keys were made before one of the victims was punched in the face.

A wheel wrench was produced and used in a threatening manner, it was claimed.

Cash was then stolen and one of the victims' cars was damaged with the wrench, before both suspects left the scene.

Two men, aged 19 and 20 and from the local area, have since been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

They were later released pending further investigation.
