Huge hay fire in Longend Lane, Marden

Fire fighters battled a hay fire for nearly 24 hours before extinguishing it.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to approximately 200 tonnes of hay aflame in Longend Lane, Marden.

Five engines attended and crews used beaters and drag rakes to extinguish the blaze and a hose reel jet to dampen down the surrounding area.

There were no casualties and residents in the area have been asked to close their windows and doors due to smoke.

They were stood down at 5pm last night.
