A armed burglar forced his way into a rural property and threatened a woman before stealing money, watches and items of jewellery.
Police responded to reports of the break-in at the address between Linton Hill and Staplehurst Road in Marden on Saturday by sending armed officers to the scene and scrambling the force helicopter in an effort to apprehend the intruder.
After forcing his way into the property and threatening an occupant, the burglar searched the property before making off with the valuables.
Staplehurst Road was closed in both directions between The Stile Bridge and the Millbrook Garden Centre while the operation took place to locate him, but police on Wednesday said the suspect remains at large.
A Kent Police spokesman said: "Witnesses are being sought by officers investigating an aggravated burglary near Maidstone.
"Officers attended the scene assisted by a police helicopter and carried out a search but were unable to locate the suspect.
"He is described as white, of slim build and around 5ft 8ins tall with brown eyes, he spoke with a northern accent and was wearing dark clothing. It is possible he may have used a bicycle to cycle to and from the property."
The burglary is being investigated by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate and detectives are urging motorists who may have driven in the area between 9.30am and 12.30pm on Saturday to check for any dashcam footage which may assist their enquiries.
Local residents are also asked to check home security CCTV or doorbell cameras.
