Co-op in Cranbrook High Street closed all day after intruders broke into store

A Co-op store has been closed all day after being targeted by intruders.

The front of the shop in High Street, Cranbrook, was damaged following the incident just before midnight last night.

Police are investigating the matter and the store is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A Co-op spokesman said: “There was an incident at our High Street store, Cranbrook, around 11:30pm last night, Sunday, July 31, when intruders broke into the store.

"Fortunately, no one was hurt. The store remains closed whilst the police are investigating and we appeal for anyone who may have seen or heard anything to come forward.”

It's unknown yet whether the store will open tomorrow.

A police spokesman said: "Officers are investigating a report of a burglary at the Co-op in High Street, Cranbrook.

"The incident happened between 11.35pm on Sunday 31 July 2022 and 12.10am on Monday 1 August 2022.

"It is alleged a quantity of cash was stolen from the tills."
