Firefighters called after fence fire spread to house in Paddock Wood

Firefighters were called out to tackle a fire that had spread to a house.

Five fire engines attended the blaze, which involved a fence and spread to the property in The Shires, Paddock Wood, at about 3.15pm yesterday.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Crews evacuated the occupants of neighbouring properties as a precaution.

"Then, wearing breathing apparatus, they worked to contain and extinguish the fire, which had spread into the loft space of the home.

"There were no reported injuries, and the cause is not yet known."

Crews returned to station at about 6.15pm.
