The expansion includes a hydro pool, cold plunge, hot spa, drench bucket, relaxation room, and ice fountain.

This is in addition to the hotel’s existing health and wellness facilities, which include a gym, swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms.

Managing director of Scragg Hotels, which owns The Spa Hotel, Anthony Scragg, said: “Tunbridge Wells has a long history as a tourist destination, and one thing lacking in the town is access to luxury spa facilities.

“Our vision is to provide a sanctuary where guests can truly unwind and escape from busy day-to-day life.

“There is huge demand for a hotel offering these kinds of facilities, and we have always wanted to expand on our current health offering.

“An opportunity to refurbish a large function space arose, and it seemed like the perfect time to take the plunge. We are excited to welcome guests to the new space.”

The refurbished facilities at the hotel in Langton Road will be open for guests staying in certain rooms or as an upgrade option, and spa users through a premium health membership costing £1,430 a year.

The new wellness suite opened at the start of the month.

Originally built in 1766 as a grand country mansion, The Spa Hotel has kept much of its historic character and has 70 individually designed bedrooms.
