A woman has died following a crash in a village high street earlier today.
Emergency services descended on the scene after the incident in Headcorn after midday.
At least three police vehicles, fire engines and two ambulances were spotted in the village.
A police spokesman said they were called at 11.51am after a car collided with a bollard.
They added: “Officers attended the scene alongside South East Coast Ambulance Service where a woman in her 80s was confirmed deceased. Her next of kin has been made aware.
“The driver is believed to have suffered a medical episode.”
Witnesses at the scene say a collision happened on the bend near North Street and the graveyard.
One business owner nearby said: “I can’t actually see anything, the emergency service vehicles are blocking my shop window.”
Another added: “We can see a lot of ambulances but not what’s happened. We’ve heard it’s down near the church.”
A fire service spokesman confirmed one engine was sent to the scene, adding: “Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Headcorn, Ashford at 12pm to assist SECAmb.”
