Off-road fire causes delays on A228 Whetsted Road near Beltring

Traffic is queuing on the A228 this morning after an off-road fire.

The road is blocked in both directions in Beltring due to the blaze between the junctions of the B2160 Maidstone Road and Whetsted Road.

Delays are building between Five Oak Green and Nettlestead Green as a result and drivers are advised to allow extra time for journeys.

A Kent Fire and Rescue Spokeswoman said crews were called to Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood just after 8am to a car alight.

One fire engine attended and crews has extinguished the fire just before 8.30am.

There were no reported injuries and the cause is not known.
