Staplehurst post office reopens after burglars drag safe away with 4x4

A post office has reopened after a brazen overnight raid this week.

Thieves smashed their way into Staplehurst post office in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

They tied a safe inside the High Street property to a 4x4 and drove away towards Cranbrook.

The site was shut for forensic works on Wednesday, while the Post Office carried its own audit yesterday.

It has reopened today and is offering a full service.

Police are continuing their appeal for witnesses following Wednesday night's break-in.

A silver Jeep thought to have been used in the burglary was found burnt out in Cork Lane, a short distance away from the scene of the crime.
