Fernham Homes work brings problems to Church Street in Boughton Monchelsea

Parking disruption for children taking their children to school at Boughton Monchelsea Primary has been less than expected.

The village had been told that Church Street would be closed from Monday this week, but contractors have left open a single lane allowing access to the village hall car park.

However the loss of on-street parking is causing problems as parents scrabble for the available space.

The lane closure is to enable BT to lay 400m of new ducting in the carriageway so as to to take high speed fibre to the new Fernham Homes housing development being built in Church Street.

As one mum put it: "Church Hill is chaos."

Angry parents have asked why BT couldn't have done the work either a couple of weeks sooner, during the half-term break, or waited a few weeks till the end of term and the summer holidays.
