Autumn talk series at the Battle of Britain Memorial

Commander David Houston of the South African Navy (retd.) will deliver a fascinating Sunday afternoon talk.
Exercise Magersfontein was a South African naval exercise held in 1988 to demonstrate the force's ability to carry out long-range and extended operations.

As Cdr David Houston will outline in the first of this season's talks in The Wing at Capel-le-Ferne, home of the National Memorial to the Few, it included the first demonstration by the South African Navy and Army of its ability to carry out an amphibious landing.

But as Cdr Houston, the Operations Officer for the Amphibious Task Force Commander at the time, will explain, not everything went to plan.

The talk is free to Hurricane members of the Trust's Friends of the Few organisation and discounted for Spitfire members. Tickets are £10 for non-members. Please note numbers are limited because of the size of the venue.
