Charity Art Exhibition with cream tea
Charity art exhibition in aid of the Smile Malawi Children's Home.
Smile Malawi is a registered charity set up in 2004 by a local woman from Upchurch who built a home for orphaned children in Malawi, Central Africa. The 44 children are aged from 6 years to 23 years and have grown up in the home since it was completed in 2006. To celebrate 15 years of the charity we are holding an Malawian art exhibition with cream tea in Upchurch village hall where there will be many very colourful Malawian paintings on show and for sale at very reasonable prices. All the paintings are done by a Malawian artist Christopher Sambani who lives on the shores of Lake Malawi. They look fabulous on plain walls and add some vibrant colour to today's modern homes. Smile Malawi has supported Christopher for 15 years and he receives a fair price from the charity but all profit goes to the Children's Home to help buy food. There will be an auction of paintings, prints and carvings at 1730.
