A public lecture by Dr Claire Jones, University of Kent
Dr Claire Jones is Lecturer in the History of Medicine and Deputy Director of the Centre for the History of Medicine, Ethics and Medical Humanities at the University of Kent. Before joining the University of Kent in 2016 she was Director of the Museum of the History of Science, Technology and Medicine at Leeds. Claire’s research centres on the history of medicine and health in Britain post 1750 on which she has published numerous articles. Her first monograph on the development of the British surgical instrument industry, ‘The Medical Trade Catalogue in Britain, 1870-1914’, was published in 2013 by Pickering & Chatto and her recent edited collection on prosthetic technologies, ‘Rethinking Modern Protheses in Anglo-American Commodity Cultures, 1820-1939’ was published in 2017 by Manchester University Press.
