Professor David Carpenter is Professor of Medieval History at King’s College, London and an internationally acclaimed authority on the History of Britain during the central medieval period. Prior to joining King’s College in 1988, David held lectureships at Christ Church, Oxford, St Hilda’s College Oxford, the University of Aberdeen, and Queen Mary College, University of London. He was educated at Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford. David appears frequently as a pundit on TV and Radio programmes about medieval Britain and has written widely on 13th century Britain. His most recent publications include ‘Henry III: 1207-1258’ (The English Monarchs Series, Yale University Press, forthcoming May 2020), ‘Magna Carta’ (Penguin Modern Classics, 2015) and ‘The Struggle for Mastery: Britain 1066-1284’ (The Penguin History of Britain, 2004).
