Carmen: Her Life and Loves

This version of Carmen is set during the Spanish Civil War. Don Jose is alone in his cell awaiting execution – reminiscing about his past life and the journey to his imminent demise.
Don Jose's memories become episodic and develop into scenes played out in his imagination involving Carmen, Michaela and Escamillo.

Kent Chamber Opera’s inaugural production will feature an eight-piece orchestra performing a newly-created musical arrangement under the directorship of Marius Reklaitis, director of Kent Philharmonic Orchestra. The Company’s small and highly-experienced team have put together a vibrant production to move and excite audiences with the aim of building a love for, and awareness of, this most involving of musical and theatrical experiences.
