David Reekie Edith Swan-neck

This talk will tell the story of Edith Harold, and the wider story of Anglo-Saxon women.
In 1086 the Domesday Book entry for Canterbury records that four of the city houses had been owned in the time of Edward the Confessor, by a woman identified as "Earl Harold's Concubine." This was Edith Swan-neck, also known as Edith the Fair who was the handfasted wife of Harold Godwinson. Edith, a woman with several important connections with Canterbury, was one of the most remarkable women of her age.
