Thanet Thunderers Boccia Club
A Friday weekly session devoted to playing our favourite game and just socialising. Boccia is played by all ages and abilities and the club aims to get folk out and involved with our friendly group.
At the top level of the sport, Boccia is played at the Paralympics; you'll see lots of it on TV this year from Tokyo! It's a soft ball game played from a chair/ wheelchair or scooter by people of all abilities at our club; although only those with a disability can compete in outside competitions. Balls can be thrown, bowled, kicked or even dropped down a ramp, so pretty much everyone can take part. It takes minutes to learn the basics and get started. We still welcome fully abled members, though. The club is small and friendly and all equipment is supplied, so it's not an expensive hobby. All we ask you to bring is yourself and a sense of humour (and a small contribution to the hire of the hall!). During COVID, distancing regulations restrict the numbers that can play, so please telephone before you come, so that we can book you in and have someone to meet you at the door to avoid you feeling like the new boy at school! We're on the LOOP bus route.
