A seaside festival championing the local music scene returns this month.
Compass Music Festival will be back in Folkestone for a second year with more than 40 independent and grassroots artists performing across the town’s Creative Quarter.
The two-day festival will see musicians from Kent, as well as Sussex, London and the south coast, play original music across eight stages – two more than its debut year.
The not-for-profit event celebrates music from all genres, including post-punk, indie-folk, alt-pop and live electronic acts.
Last year, the inaugural event saw more than 750 visitors watch 30 artists across six stages, and this month’s festival is set to be even bigger.
The huge line-up includes rising musicians and bands, including A Void, Big Trousers, Currls, Estelle Mey, Honeybuzzard, I Am HER, Fever Rouge, Lucy May Walker, The Echograms, Will Rees, Vanity Fairy, Winter Gardens and Zombie Killers, among others.
Geraldine Zanaska, a music promoter living in Folkestone who founded and organised the festival, said: “Seeing this line-up come together is incredibly exciting. Each of these artists brings something unique - energy, originality, community.
“Our aim is to amplify the incredible talent in Kent and the South East, and to create a truly inclusive, independent festival experience.”
Compass Music Festival takes place on Friday, October 17 and Saturday, October 18. You can book tickets online here.
Discounted tickets are available for students, under 25s, and those on low or no income. Your wristband will grant full access to all participating venues for either one day or the full weekend.
