Tour director Nell Teasdale said: “We’re thrilled to have reached 10 years of bringing the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour to the UK and Ireland – and what better way to celebrate than with the latest dose of cutting-edge adventure films from the world’s most prestigious mountain festival.”

“We guarantee that the anniversary atmosphere at the shows will be buzzing – and that audiences will go home inspired to have an adventure of their own as well.”

Films are selected from hundreds entered into the Banff Mountain Film Festival, which takes place for every November in Canada’s Rocky Mountains. As well as thrilling films, each event features a free prize draw for outdoorsy goodies.

Among the films being shown will be This Mountain Life with Martina and her 60-year-old mother Tania embarking on an epic ski traverse from Vancouver to Alaska – six months and 2,300km of journeying though relentless mountain wilderness.

Also showing is For the Love of Mary, a story of devotion that goes a very long way. Ninety-seven-year-old George Etzweiler starting running when he competed in the annual 7.6 mile race up Mount Washington aged 69... and still takes part almost 30 years later. Besides his lucky green running shorts, George carries something special every step: the memory of his late wife, Mary.

The tour takes in venues across the country, but adrenalin junkies get two chances to see it in Kent - at the Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells on Saturday, March 9 and at the Gulbenkian, Canterbury on Saturday, April 13. Book at banff-uk.com
