Kent: Pug Dog Welfare & Rescue Association marks its 45th anniversary

They’re cute and cuddly and have been the must-have dog in the last few years.

But the Pug Dog Welfare & Rescue Association knew the breed’s charms long before most - they formed 45 years ago.

Members and supporters will be celebrating the milestone with a 45th anniversary walk on Sunday, September 30 at Blean Woods in Upper Harbledown near Canterbury.

Last year the association took in more than 200 pugs in need of rehoming, and a similar number were surrendered the year before. The association has operated on a regional basis since 2014 due to the numbers of animals needing homes.

Volunteers, supporters, and of course, plenty of pugs will be heading out for the anniversary walkies in the woods at the weekend, from 11am. If you would like to join in, contact Laura from Kent Pugs.
