Bluewater cinema to screen panto Jack and the Beanstalk by Blue Peter star Peter Duncan

Former Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan will be bringing his own homemade panto to a Kent cinema this Christmas.

The presenter and actor, who fronted the BBC children's show in the 1980s, has signed a deal which will see his pandemic panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, screened at Bluewater shopping centre's Showcase Cinema de Lux, in December.

The production was filmed entirely in his back garden after he was galvanised into action in the first lockdown by fears panto could be entirely put on hold this year.

A critically-acclaimed pantomime dame himself, he rounded up showbiz mates and filmed the full-length, all singing, all dancing show in his own backyard.

And as the show's producer, he also built the sets, found the costumes and wrote the script himself.

The deal he has signed will mean the show is screened at Everyman cinemas on Friday, December 4, followed by Showcase Cinema De Lux at Bluewater and others in the chain around the country on Friday, December 11.
