Everyone knows exercise can boost your physical health, and it can help with your emotional and mental wellbeing, too.

We’ve pulled together five fabulous ideas to get you moving – there’s something for everyone.

Jukebox jiving: Whether you’ve got a Spotify playlist to boogie to or simply want to kick back with Ken Bruce on the radio, you can dance your way to fitness. It’s totally free, feel good fun. Better still, get your pals on the phone, Skype or Zoom and dance along together.

Facetime workouts: Video call your grandkids and let them teach you how to floss. No, not that, flossing; we’re talking about the Fortnite inspire dance craze that’ll have you wiggling your hips and swinging your arms in no time. Or let them share their favourite TikTok dance craze and do your best to join in. In return, you can teach them the joys of glam rock!

.

Get outdoors if you can: If you’re lucky enough to have a garden, set yourself mini challenges, be it laps of the lawn (no need to go full Captain Tom!), a gardening challenge or some gentle yoga and stretching. If you aren’t shielding, try to take a decent walk or cycle every day to keep those muscles moving. Shake up your route and explore new areas to stop it getting repetitive.

YouTube Yoga: For indoor exercisers, YouTube yoga is one of the simplest ways to get active, and there’s a level for everyone. You don’t need to invest in fancy clothes or kit, and you can take it at your own pace – just hit the pause button whenever you need to.

App-iness is: If you have a smartphone or tablet, there’s a huge variety of fitness apps out there, and many of them are free to download. Find the perfect exercise app to suit you. Try MyFitnessPal to track your food and your exercise levels, Map My Walk to see your own routes and be inspired by others to try somewhere new, or 7 Minute Workout, which is a great entry level app to fit in whatever your fitness level.

Share your #StayInWorkOut videos online and join the movement.
