Britpop was a defining genre of the 1990s, with many bands that saw fame during the decade still proving popular with audiences today.
Oasis broke the internet with last year’s reunion announcement, Blur sold out two nights at Wembley Stadium in July, Pulp recently released their eighth studio album, and now, fellow ‘90s band Supergrass are heading to Dreamland for a huge outdoor concert.
It’s part of this year’s Margate Summer Series, a string of open-air performances from the likes of Tom Jones, The Libertines, Madness and more from now until September.
Supergrass, who shot to fame with their 1995 single Alright, are celebrating 30 years since the release of their debut album, I Should Coco, this year.
The UK Top 5 single received international recognition when it appeared on the soundtrack to American teen movie Clueless, starring Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd.
The alt-rock band – with members Gaz and Rob Coombes, Mick Quinn and Danny Goffey – will perform their debut record in full at their Margate gig, alongside a handful of fan favourites.
Over the past three decades, the group has achieved six Top 10 albums, 10 Top 20 singles and an Ivor Novello Award.
Supergrass will be at Dreamland on Friday, June 20. You can book tickets online here.
Joining them on the venue’s Scenic Stage will be singer-songwriter Jake Bugg, best known for hits Lightning Bolt and All I Need, and Mercury Music Prize-nominated band The Coral.
