Craig David talks to kmfm ahead of Kent Event Centre gig with Rita Ora in Maidstone

Craig David has said his date in Kent this week is set to be "wicked".

Speaking to kmfm's Andy Walker, the singing star said he couldn't wait for the gig, alongside Rita Ora, at the Kent Event Centre stage in Detling, Maidstone on Friday.

With a back catalogue which includes Fill Me In, When the Bassline Drops and 7 Days, and new hits like I Know You, Craig admitted he’s spoilt for choice when deciding what to play.

“I love being on stage and I want to create memories,” he said. “I want people to think ‘you played that song my parents used to play and that song that I’ve just discovered’. You’ve got the tracks like classic ones and the songs that are hits now. It’s going to be wicked.”

The singer has sold 15 million albums worldwide, and last year alone he had 117 million single streams. His last two albums were both critically acclaimed and massive hits, – Following My Intuition and The Time Is Now.

He added: “I want people to think the sound live is the same, if not better. It goes off every single time.”

He said he would have a full live band with him and planned to incorporate elements of his TS5 summer DJing.

Rita Ora, who joins him, has had hits including For You - the title track from 50 Shades of Grey alongside Liam Payne.

The pair have duetted in the past and Craig said he’d be keen to talk about doing it again. “I’d be up for it," he said. "She has an incredible voice and as a songwriter I love people who can really sing. When we catch up we can see if we’re on the same page.”
