Americana music festival Black Deer line-up for 2021 and tickets for NHS staff

An Americana music festival which will feature Robert Plant and The Waterboys next summer will allow ticketholders in a day early next year.

The Black Deer Festival, which will be held from Friday, June 18 to Sunday, June 20 at Eridge Park near Tunbridge Wells , will also allow early entry for ticketholders from 4pm on the Thursday.

And organisers have set aside 1,500 tickets for NHS key workers to thank them for their work and sacrifices during the pandemic.

The event, which was postponed from this year , has seen some of its major acts confirmed already for next year, including Wilco, The Waterboys, Robert Plant and The Dead South.

Now other acts confirmed for next summer's line-up have been announced as Americana living legend and three-time Grammy Award winning singer songwriter Lucinda Williams, Southern roots rocking heroes Drive-By Truckers and Canadian cowboy Colter Wall.

The festival also celebrates the food of the Americana and country music lifestyle, and the event will see stars in the Live Fire BBQ showcase including Sam Evans & Shauna Guinn of Hang Fire Kitchen, BBC Food regular Genevieve Taylor, Ready Steady Cook’s Romy Gill and Countrywoodsmoke’s Marcus Bawdon, as well as former River Cottage chef Tim Maddams and Hunter Gatherer Cook’s Nick Weston.

The event, which has several stages, also has modern soul singing sensation Jordan Mackampa, Philadelphia/L.A. vintage folk rockers Mt. Joy and critically acclaimed two-time Native American Music Award winner Samantha Crain on the line-up.

The Roadhouse, an area for Americana counter-culture, will feature underground psych and blues band Desertscene primal blues-rock duo The Picturebooks, Swedish rock’n’rollers Siena Root, Indian Queens and Israeli three piece The Great Machine.

New for 2021, will be Jackson Social - an adult only members bar where, for an extra fee, festival goers can enjoy an outside covered seating area, cocktail bar and lounge seating, plus phone charging, DJs and exclusive acoustic performances.

There is also an offer running until midnight on October 30 where up to three free junior or child tickets can be added for each adult day ticket bought.
