Punk folk musician Frank Turner is touring the country with his band, the Sleeping Souls.
The guitarist is playing a string of sold-out shows across the UK in support of his latest album, Undefeated, but there’s still a handful of tickets left to see him in Folkestone.
The singer-songwriter has been performing all over the world since the release of his tenth studio album in May last year, which reached No. 3 in the UK Albums chart and No. 1 in the UK Independent Albums chart.
The latest leg of the tour includes a series of academy-sized venues across the country, many of which have already sold out.
“There are no clichés about the difficult tenth album, so in some ways, that's a liberating statement,” says Frank. “But at the same time, I have to justify writing and releasing a tenth album. That's a lot of records for anybody.
“Also, I’m 42, which is not a sexy rock ‘n’ roll age. But all through my career, I've been interested in writers like Loudon Wainwright III or the Hold Steady, people who write about adulthood, essentially.”
Frank Turner and his backing band, the Sleeping Souls, rose to fame performing at festivals such as Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, and Download.
During the pandemic, Frank also became a social media sensation after broadcasting weekly concerts from his home on Facebook and YouTube to raise money for independent grassroots music venues.
His first album, Sleep Is for the Week, was released in 2007 and, over the past 18 years, he has achieved six Top 10 albums, including his ninth album, FTHC, which reached No. 1 in the UK.
Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls will be at Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone on Saturday, April 19. You can book tickets online here.
