Free Maidstone Proms in the Park back this bank holiday

After house builder Weston Homes stepped in to support Maidstone's popular Proms in the Park, they were rescued for this year and come to Whatman Park on Saturday, May 25.

Now free to enter again, the show runs from 3pm to 8pm led by Master of Ceremonies, David Zachary.

It features the 40-strong Invicta Jazz kicking off proceedings.

The Hazlitt Theatre Choir at 4.30pm, and the Hazlitt Youth Theatre at 4.45pm. At 5pm Maidstone-based singer Fred Clark performs and from 5.45pm to 8.15pm Clea & The Dubs take to the stage, featuring soul veteran Clea Llewellyn.

At 6.30pm Maidstone Wind Symphony will finish off the day, rousing the audience with favourites such as Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory, for a singalong finale.

Little ones will be entertained throughout the afternoon, with Punch and Judy, face painting, a bubble artist and mix and mingle magic. There will also be an arts and crafts table by This Art of Mine for children. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to bring chairs, picnics and blankets to enjoy the event.

John Foster, from Maidstone council, said: “This wonderful event is perfect for the whole family, with beautiful music from local artists as well as lots of fun for the children."
