Two huge artists have announced gigs in Kent next summer – but you’ll have to be quick to get tickets.
The Jam’s Paul Weller and Blur bassist Alex James will be stopping off at Dreamland’s Scenic Stage in Margate next year.
Tickets to both concerts go on general sale tomorrow (Friday, October 31). You can book online here.
Paul Weller, who previously performed at the open-air venue in 2022, will be joined by special guests as he returns to the vintage fairground in July.
After forming The Jam with Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler in the 1970s, the Mod trio gained instant success with their debut single, In the City.
The band went on to release a string of hits, including Going Underground, News of the World, and Town Called Malice.
The singer, affectionately known as The Modfather, joined the Style Council with keyboardist Mick Talbot after The Jam split in 1982, and also pursued a successful solo career, which earned him four BRIT Awards.
The musician influenced a generation by leading the mod revival movement in the late 1970s and 1980s, including a band that would later dominate the following decade: Blur.
Alex James, who rose to fame alongside bandmates Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon and Dave Rowntree in the 1990s, is taking his Britpop Classical concert on the road for the first time.
Blur released a wave of guitar anthems, including Song 2, Girls and Boys, and Parklife, as part of the Britpop era.
The bassist also founded Big Feastival, a family-friendly music and food festival held on his Oxfordshire farm, where he first introduced the new ‘90s-inspired music event to audiences earlier this year.
The show takes songs from artists such as Blur, Oasis, Pulp, Supergrass and The Verve and sees them performed in a symphonic style by a live band, the London Concert Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra.
The tracks will also feature guest vocalists, including Phil Daniels, Saffron of Republica, and Gary Stringer of Reef.
Speaking of the tour, Alex James said: “Somehow, all of these songs mean more to people now than they did when they were first released. They really resonate with my kids' generation too.
“Bringing them back to life with a symphony orchestra, a kick-ass band, some old friends and very special guests totally blew the roof off at Feastival and I absolutely cannot wait to get this show on the road.”
Paul Weller will be at Dreamland on Friday, July 3 (tickets on sale at 10am) and Alex James’ Britpop Classical will be at the venue on Friday, July 24 (tickets on sale at 12pm).
