You don't need a fancy meal out to make time with someone special feel special this year - let it come to you.

Kent firms and entrepreneurs are finding ways to help us still celebrate this Valentine's Day. We've rounded up a bumper selection to tempt you.

Macknade

As doors to our favourite eateries are shut, it’s time to roll up your sleeves, dig out an apron and cook something special for someone special this Valentine's Day.

Foodie haven Macknade is ready to supply a do-it-yourself, easy to recreate restaurant-quality meal for two, at home this Valentine’s Day, starting from £40.

The team have created three custom Valentine’s recipe boxes, for meat lovers, fish fans or veg-lovers, using local ingredients hand-selected and paired with a bottle of wine.

Boxes come with fresh ingredients and an easy-to-follow recipe, but you'll need to order by Wednesday, February 10. After that, you can still visit the shop and pick up what you need to dine at home.

Boxes can be collected from Macknade in Faversham or in Elwick Place in Ashford on selected dates or there is delivery for £5 to Faversham, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Canterbury, Sittingbourne and Ashford. Find out more at macknade.com

The Small Holding, Kilndown

The Weald business recently earned itself a brand new Michelin Green Star for its sustainability. Fresh from that success, the team are offering Michelin standard Valentine's takeaways which you finish off at home, complete with a bottle of wine.

The sumptuous five course menu with a bottle of Squerreys 2016 includes bacon & onion brioche with cultured butter, oysters pickled in wild garlic vinegar and wild venison, salt baked celeriac and preserved vegetables or barbecued lobster with fermented tomatoes.

Il Pakkero, Ashford

The authentic Italian restaurant in Dover Place, Ashford is offering you a slice of Italy for Valentine's Day.

Pre-order by Friday, February 12 and book a collection slot if you live nearby to enjoy a starter; a choice of two pizzas and two desserts for £30.

The teams at Rocksalt and The Wife of Bath have put together a special five course menu to ensure you can enjoy a memorable evening while staying at home.

Kent Charcuterie

Founded last year by couple Dan Turner and Lauren Rimmer, the Kent Charcuterie aimed to shake up the charcuterie landscape with a carefully curated selection of snack boxes using locally sourced produce in eco-friendly boxes.

The hand-crafted boxes can be sweet, savoury, half and half, with options for vegans and vegetarians and there is a range for Valentine’s Day.

Matestone, Maidstone

The coffee shop in the High Street, which is now open for takeaways, has some treats to share for Valentine's Day which can be pre-booked.

The package includes hot chocolate bombs, chocolate fudge brownies and white chocolate and raspberry chocolates, among others, for £10 if ordered by Friday, February 12. Head to the Facebook page.

Newchurch House Restaurant, New Romney

The small family restaurant in The Street, Newchurch has a Valentine's Weekend Takeaway Special for £19.95 per person.

The three course meal includes dishes to choose from such as chicken medallions with a smoked bacon and tomato sauce to salmon fillet in a white prosecco sauce.
