Now that the summer flower season is officially here, green-fingered gardeners up and down the country will be bringing a little sunshine into the home with beautiful hand-picked blooms.
If a bouquet from the local supermarket just doesn’t cut it, why not visit one of Kent’s pick-your-own flower farms and choose your own colourful summer stems? Here’s a few of our top picks to get you started…
CHAMBERS FLOWER FARM, near Maidstone
Thanks to a focus on sustainability, this farm is pesticide-free and uses water from its own reservoir to grow beautiful flowers. It’s £20 to fill a standard vase or, for an extra £5, you can get a larger container, and children can fill up their own miniature vase for free. There’s also a relaxing garden where you can take a seat and enjoy homemade cakes and refreshments.

THE FLOWER FARM, near Canterbury
This stunning flower farm is blooming with summer flowers from late June, with this year’s official opening coming just in time for wedding season. You can pick your own bouquets, with pruning tools available on site, and even bring the dog along for the day. Taking pictures to share on social media is highly encouraged, so make sure to get the perfect pose.

GINGERLY GREEN FLOWER FARM, near Dover
Grab a bucket and fill it with up to 35 stems, freshly picked from this colourful farm. The flowers are grown sustainably and are all peat-free, and the field is free for you to explore with picnic benches and tables to take a break when you need it. The farm has partnered up with the Acre Kitchen, a local caterer, to provide hampers with finger sandwiches, cakes, sausage rolls, salad and more to enjoy on-site.

MITCHELL FLOWER FARM, near Sevenoaks
It doesn’t matter if you’re looking for a small bouquet to brighten up your home or gathering decorations for a big summer celebration, you can pick up a range of sizes from this pesticide-free farm. Starting from jam jars for £10, you can fill your container with eye-catching wildflowers like sweetpeas, sunflowers, dahlias, strawflowers, poppies and more.

PARKHOUSE PETALS, near Maidstone
With a flat rate of £25 per bucket, you know exactly how much it’ll cost to walk away with a bouquet of fresh flowers after a visit to Parkhouse Petals. Not only can you pick up vibrant flowers that have been grown locally and sustainably, but you can also admire the delightful gardens in all their glory as you stroll through the flowerbeds.
