Actor John Barrowman is taking fans on a journey through his career with more than 30 years of stories and showtunes.
The new show, Laid Bare, will see the Torchwood star talk about his love of all things showbiz and sing some of Broadway’s biggest musical numbers in venues all over the country – including Tunbridge Wells and Chatham.
The Glasgow-born performer, who grew up in Illinois after his family relocated to America when he was eight years old, first rose to fame in the theatre, appearing in West End shows such as Anything Goes, the Phantom of the Opera, Hair and Miss Saigon.
His background in musicals led to the singer being cast as a judge on TV talent contests Any Dream Will Do and How Do You Solve a Problem like Maria, which aimed to find new actors for the leading roles in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s shows.
In 2005, sci-fi series Doctor Who returned to our screens and John was given the part of recurring guest character Captain Jack Harkness.
The character proved so popular that Russell T Davies, who was behind the BBC’s time-travelling revival, created a spin-off show for him.
Torchwood followed a small team of alien-hunters based in Cardiff led by Jack Harkness and ran for five years, from 2006 to 2011.
John has also appeared in the likes of Desperate Housewives and DC Comics’ Arrow, as well as reality shows such as I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and Dancing on Ice.
His new tour will visit the Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells on Wednesday, February 5.
The show will then be at the Central Theatre in Chatham on Thursday, February 6. You can book tickets online here.
