A festival that has been held in Kent for the past seven years has announced a new London venue for 2025.
Black Deer, an Americana music festival which usually takes place at Eridge Park in Tunbridge Wells, revealed plans to postpone this year’s three-day outdoor event due to ‘unpredictable ticket sales and ever-rising production costs’ in November.
However, the team have now confirmed that Black Deer in the City, a new two-day festival, will launch at Tobacco Dock in East London in October.
The lineup boasts more than 50 artists and chefs across four stages, including three music stages and the festival’s popular Live Fire stage, featuring cooking demonstrations.
Musicians set to appear at the new event include Canadian singer-songwriter Frazey Ford, Latin American-inspired band Chuck Prophet and his Cumbia Shoes, country group the Wandering Hearts and Californian singer Sam Outlaw.
TV personality Ray Lamp, better known as Dr BBQ, will be cooking up flame-grilled Southern cuisine at his only UK appearance this year. He will be joined by a string of chefs and cookery experts over the weekend.
The festival, which continues to celebrate American counter-culture, will also feature street food, bars, motorcycle displays, eating competitions, fashion stalls, a tattoo parlour, DJs and a gospel brunch.
Gill Tee, co-founder of Black Deer Festival, said that the postponement of this year’s Kent festival was ‘not the end’, however, it’s unclear whether the event will still return to the county in 2026 given its new London location.
The first Black Deer in the City will take place at Tobacco Dock on Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26. You can book tickets here.
Tickets start from £90 for one day or £157 for the weekend. There are also VIP upgrades available.
