Leading blues guitarist Chantel McGregor at Horsebridge Arts & Community Centre, Whitstable on Friday, October 10

The rock guitar is a male-dominated instrument but there are notable exceptions to this rule of thumb.

Chantel McGregor was the first female to be voted Guitarist of the Year in the British Blues Awards 2013.

She has just won the accolade for a second year running, and is now bringing her string-bending talent to Whitstable’s Horsebridge Arts Centre on Friday, October 10.

Her latest award was announced on Paul Jones’s BBC Radio 2 show, after which he played the track Cat Song from her first album, Like No Other. The following day, Chris Evans played it on his BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show.

Chantel and her band will rock the Horsebridge with her latest songs, plus several from her first album as well as a few classics.

The show is at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £12 in advance or £14 on the door. Visit www.horsebridge-centre.org.uk or call 01227 281174.
