Bouncing Barrel in Herne Bay is a great place to have a nice pint and escape the election for a few hours.

Need somewhere to hide away from all the political promises, claims and counterclaims on polling day? Then give the Bouncing Barrel a try.

The town centre micropub has just celebrated its second anniversary...and with no TV and a mobile phone ban is the perfect place to sit back and have a pint.

Owner Penny Wicks said: “It is a good place to avoid the politics. We get all sorts of eclectic topics of conversation, but hopefully we will avoid anything to do with politics.

“If it comes up, I think we will certainly be trying to change the subject as politics can get quite heated.

“We’re not against politics per se, but it is better being discussed elsewhere.

"We don’t have music, mobile phone use or televisions, so it’s a nice place to relax and stop thinking about the election for a moment.”

The micropub in Bank Street serves a mix of local ales and ciders, and will be open from 12-2pm and from 6pm until 9pm on election day on Thursday, May 7.
