A band that was forced to postpone their Kent gig last year will return to the county this summer.
German band Scooter were set to perform at Dreamland in Margate last September but pulled out at the last minute following the death of a crew member.
The sudden death of Seb, the band’s backliner, meant the gig was put on hold for nine months, but is now set to take place at the trendy seaside venue on Friday, June 13. You can get tickets online here.
Scooter is a trance band, formed in 1993, that has spent more than 500 weeks in the singles chart.
Netflix documentary FCK2020 follows the band, which has more than 130 gold and platinum records worldwide.
Although it’s not the first outdoor summer concert at the vintage fairground, with electronic rock band Pendulum kicking off the season at the end of May, Scooter’s headline set will officially mark the start of this year’s Margate Summer Series.
The series features a string of open-air gigs on Dreamland’s Scenic Stage from June to September, with artists such as The Libertines, Madness, Tom Jones, Sugababes and more set to perform.
However, the venue will also be putting on events outside of the Margate Summer Series, including a retro festival taking place on the same weekend.
Rewind, a touring ‘80s festival, is making its debut in the county this year, bringing a host of big names from the decade to the Thanet coast.
The line-up includes Spadau Ballet frontman Tony Hadley, Live Aid co-founder Midge Ure, synth-pop group Heaven 17, I Think We’re Alone Now singer Tiffany and Carol Decker’s T’Pau.
Rewind has been running since 2009, when it was named 80s Rewind Festival, and is one of the country’s biggest festivals celebrating the era.
Rewind is coming to Margate on Saturday, June 14. You can book tickets online here.
Dreamland is located at Marine Terrace, opposite the seafront and next to Margate train station. Parking is available nearby, but the venue has also teamed up with Southeastern to schedule later trains on event days to help gig-goers get home.
