Looking for a fright-filled night out without the kids in tow? From eerie castles to hair-raising outdoor cinema, there are plenty of ways for grown-ups to celebrate Halloween in Kent.

Here are some of the most thrilling events to sink your teeth into this October…

FORT AMHERST, Chatham

One of the country’s original scare events is back for another year of blood-curdling thrills. This grown-up horror event is packed with twisted mazes where visitors can step into an underground world of ghosts and ghouls. The live actors bring the scenes to life, along with stunning visual effects and sets, creating an experience that certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted.

HARBOUR ARM, Folkestone

This trendy seaside spot isn’t just for the summer months. It’s still a hub of activity during the colder seasons, including Halloween, when the big screen will return to the harbour for a string of horror films. There will be a handful of family favourites for younger viewers, but some truly terrifying movies will also be shown on the outdoor screen including The Exorcist and The Thing – strictly for adults.

HEVER CASTLE, Edenbridge

If you want something to give you a little fright without keeping you awake at night, the entertaining ghost tours at Hever Castle will be enough to get you in the Halloween spirit. You’ll be led through the historic castle after dark, creeping into the most well-hidden corners of the building, to find supernatural beings. It also includes a Victorian seance and a walk through the nighttime gardens.

SOCIALITE, Canterbury

Join the haunted party at Canterbury’s Socialite bar. The Midnight Masquerade will see creatures from the underworld come to life, hidden behind spooky and seductive masks. The event includes signature cocktails, a five-course meal, and a dark, glamorous theme.

Fancy going further afield to get your thrills this Halloween? One of the UK’s biggest theme parks, Thorpe Park, has brought back its spine-tingling Fright Nights with creepy characters and terrifying mazes, and it’s just an hour’s drive from Kent.

Tulley’s Shocktober Fest in Crawley, West Sussex, is another heart-pounding Halloween experience with award-winning themed attractions, immersive characters, haunted bars and food stalls, and it’s also around an hour from Kent in the car.
