The historic Hever Castle in Edenbridge is inviting visitors to see its Dazzling Daffodils display, an annual flower display sporting 90,000 daffodil bulbs.

The display, which is set to bloom all over the castle grounds from mid-March, includes a self-led tour of the gardens that takes visitors through colourful patches such as the Winter Garden, Scented Garden and Diana’s Walk.

The beautiful grounds will be covered in spring flowers and the daily tours from RHS Chelsea gold medalist Johnny Walkers and Hever Castle’s expert gardening team will give guests an insight into how to grow and maintain these vibrant plants.

There will be flower arranging workshops, using fresh daffodils and foliage, and specially designed floral arrangements in selected rooms inside the castle.

Families can also snap a selfie in front of the daffodil photo frame with the landmark building in the background.

Daffodils, also known by their botanical name narcissus, tend to flower towards the end of February, or possibly earlier in the wild, and can be seen in bloom until May.

The yellow trumpet-like flowers signify the arrival of spring and inspire new beginnings. It is also the national flower of Wales.

The week-long display, which starts Monday, March 17, will coincide with a visit from the Plant Fair Roadshow on its final day on Sunday, March 23.

The castle will host the fair for the first time this year, with a collection of specialist nurseries from across the South East of England setting up shop for the day.

“It’s a dream come true to welcome the fantastic Plant Fairs Roadshow to Hever,” says head gardener Neil Miller. “I have been an admirer of their plant fairs and also their RHS Chelsea Flower Show displays over the last few years. Having this collected pedigree of nurseries onsite at Hever, all at once, will feel a little bit like a mini Chelsea to me.”

The fair is open from 10.30am to 3.30pm and is included with a standard entry ticket.
