P&O Ferries Choir carol service and other carol services this weekend

Winners of Gareth Malone’s The Choir: Sing While You Work, the P&O Ferries Choir, will be giving their Christmas concert this weekend.

They will perform in River, near Dover, on Friday, December 21, when they will be singing traditional carols and songs from their album, Winter Wonderland.

Copies of the album will be on sale for £10 at the concert in River Parish Church, with doors opening at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.

There will be drinks and nibbles afterwards and a raffle. Tickets are £5 on the door with under 16s free. For more details go here.

You can also hear carols at Canterbury Cathedral on Friday, December 21, when the building will be lit up through the #FollowTheStar Christmas campaign from 5.30pm, followed by choral evensong and on Sunday, December 23 at 3pm there will be a carol service and reason of seven lessons and again on Christmas Eve at 3pm. ROCHESTER CATHEDRAL

At Rochester Cathedral, there will be a festival of nine lessons and carols on Friday, December 21 at 7.30pm and also on Saturday, December 22. A crib service will be held n Christmas Eve at 3pm. Details can be found at rochestercathedral.org

ALL SAINTS’ CHURCH, MAIDSTONE

The annual service of seven lessons and carols at All Saints’ Church in Mill Street, Maidstone, is on Saturday, December 22 at 4.30pm. It will feature Astley Brass, directed by Andrew Williamson with Lionel Marchant and Philip Horley on organ. There’s also a christingle service for families at 4pm on Christmas Eve.
