The Overtones play Folkestone for the first time as a four piece since the death of band mate Timmy Matley

The Overtones come to the county next week as a four-piece for the first time.

The group, who recently released their sixth, self-titled studio album, are taking in their first tour with their new line-up. It comes after the death of their band mate, Timmy Matley, who died in April.

Since bursting onto the scene in 2010 with their debut Good Ol’ Fashioned Love, The Overtones have sold more than a million records.

The first track to be shared, You To Me Are Everything, has their signature vintage vibe and trademark vocal harmonies. Lockie Chapman, Mike Crawshaw, Darren Everest and Mark Franks have teamed up with producer Julian Hinton and engineer Simon Bloor for an album of carefully-chosen covers and originals, as a tribute to Timmy and a celebration of what they achieved.

They said: “We are really proud of the new album and all it represents. Yes there are obviously songs for reflection and even sadness but there are also songs to put a smile on your face and get you up dancing. There’s a big mix of feelings and moods in this album which was certainly a challenge to express but we’re so proud of what we’ve achieved. This album means the world to us and we want it to mean something to the listener too.”
