Art works of Margate's coast on show in Our Ephemeral Coast: Darren Lewis and Ross Andrews

Two artists who capture the beauty of the Thanet coastline in very different ways have launched their sixth joint exhibition.

Darren Lewis and Ross Andrews have been exhibiting together in Margate since 2016, when they staged Sand, Sea and Light.

Our Ephemeral Coastline looks at the changing elements which dominate their work - the sky, and the sea. Both use the same subject matter but from different approaches, perspectives, and disciplines.

Their new works come out of the last 18 months when many of us learnt to appreciate things we may have taken for granted - the light in the sky; sunsets and the sea.

Both say they were able to focus on their creative projects far more in lockdown. Darren aims to capture the light, colour and atmosphere of a moment with his oil paintings while Ross captures a fleeting moment in the surf with his camera, often having waited months for the elements to come together.

The exhibition follows In and Out the Sea in 2017, Thrills and Spills in 2018, My Sky – His Sea, His Sky – My Sea in 2019 and Meet Us Where the Sky Touches the Sea in 2020.
